Mike and Bernadette Byrne are the visionary husband-and-wife duo behind The Beatles Story, the award-winning exhibition that has become one of the most popular music attractions in the world.

Their journey began in Liverpool in the late 1980s, when, inspired by their travels and the worldwide fascination with the Fab Four, they dreamed of creating something the city still lacked – a permanent, immersive celebration of The Beatles’ legacy.

Bernadette, a former Cavern Club regular who personally knew and dated George Harrison (and briefly Paul McCartney) in the early ’60s, had lived through the birth of Beatlemania firsthand. Mike, a musician from Liverpool’s own Merseybeat scene, shared her passion for the band’s story and its power to unite generations.

Together, they turned a dream into reality. In May 1990, they opened The Beatles Story at Liverpool’s Albert Dock, blending storytelling, history, and emotion into an experience that now welcomes millions of visitors from all over the globe.

Today, the Byrnes’ creation is not just an attraction – it’s part of Liverpool’s cultural DNA and a symbol of how passion, perseverance, and love for music can build something timeless.
